Road Improvement Campaign
Continue letter-writing campaign for repaving & wider shoulders on State Route 9L & Route 9N. Arrange meetings with the county & local DPW to identify and improve substandard roads. Schedule a presentation to Warren County Board of Supervisors advocating for roads & trails.
Multi-use Path and Trail Development
Work with Path Committee to find funding sources for the construction of a multi-use connector path system from Lake George to Fort Edward. Five sections (existing and future) will make up the system: Warren County Bikeway, Rush Pond Way, Half-way Brook Trail, Peggy Ann Road to Hudson Pointe, Big Bay Preserve Tail, Clendon Brook Preserve, Hudson River Park Train, and the Feeder Canal Path.
Safety & Education
Send PSA’s, articles, press releases, letters to the editor promoting bicycling safety & events. Present bicycle-related topics to community groups, school groups & youth groups.
Advocacy & Public Relations
Participate in Sport and Bicycling Expositions to distribute informational & educational bicycling materials and promote Warren County as a “Destination for Bicyclists”. Collaborate with Tourism & Chambers of Commerce to promote bicycling locally and internationally. Restructure & update WCSQBO website, www.bikewarrenco.org. Develop & distribute Warren County Visitor’s Survey to gather data for planning and developing.
Programs/Events
Promote and improve “Warren County Cycling Challenge” for 2017. Organize and expand the 4th Annual “Harry Elkes Ride” from The Hub in Brant Lake. Plan informal, late afternoon “Thursday Group Rides” each week with support riders for cyclists to enjoy favorite urban and rural Warren County routes. Publicize all the WCSQBO rides to encourage people of all levels of biking ability to experience the enjoyment of bicycling in a friendly, safe group setting.
